‘Good Work Is Our Service’
I call this series “Good Work Is Our Service”. I am interested in historical signage and vernacular graphic art, and will often lean heavily on research in his graphic art and illustrations. The signage in this piece is selected from late-nineteenth and early twentieth-century American showcard lettering guide books, which would feature in store windows and commercial displays. Lettering full of character, displaying age-old commercial and societal truths that remain as relevant as ever and even more so as our modern cultural contexts continue to develop.

About Facebook Open Arts
The artist’s residency at Facebook has been a repose by the organisation from the screen to a culture rooted in creativity, material design, and print. Artists are invited to self-direct and develop art series in the lab. Facebook Open Arts contain risograph printing machines, laser engraving machines, a rich variety of materials and resources that enable the artist to experiment with material and craft.
