I illustrated the cover for Noel Cunningham's Guide to Modern Irish Manners for The O'Brien Press. The type was hand-lettered with Japanese ink brushes, giving it variation in line.
The cover was printed with spot gold foil too! The feel of the book cover design is playfully formal and doesn't take itself too seriously. There’s something for everyone to be found in this charming new book!

I really love hand-lettering and the expressive quality that can be created with inked type. Integrating type and image into the same composition is something I really enjoy.
Once the images were scanned, I set about piecing it all together digital to make the final book cover design.
